porque é o mais correcto...
Por cada animal comprado numa loja, através da net ou mesmo a um criador, há outro num canil ou numa associção à espera de ser resgatado.... A atitute mais correcta será sempre a adopção de um animal que desespera por carinho, atenção, cuidados, festas... que desespera por um lar. Já para não falar nas terríveis "puppy mills" que são autênticas fábricas de cachorros. Ali, as fêmeas não têm nome, têm um número gravado no interior da orelha... como a "Baby" uma cadela poodle. Baby era o nº94 e já era antiga na "fábrica"...tinha 9 anos e foi mãe de muitos e muitos cachorros. O seu corpo já não aguentava, estava cansado e a probabilidade de gerar mais cachorros estava esgotada. Solução: matá-la. Não produzia - não rendia.Com anos de maus tratos em jaulas de arame sem sustentabilidade nenhuma para as suas patas, Baby desenvolveu uma infecção que obrigou a amputação de uma perna... mas dentro do azar, Baby teve sorte. Jana Kohl resgatou-a e desde então, Baby tem percorrido os EUA a fazer campanha contra as puppy mills. É mesmo a porta-voz não-oficial da Humane Society of the United States para este assunto. Baby é já uma celebridade entre celebridades!

HONOLULU (AP) — The Marine Corps said Wednesday it was expelling one Marine and disciplining another for their roles in a video showing a Marine throwing a puppy off a cliff while on patrol in Iraq.
The 17-second video posted on YouTube drew sharp condemnation from animal rights groups when it came to light in March.
The clip shows two Marines joking before one hurls the puppy into a rocky gully. A yelping sound is heard as it flips through the air.
"That's mean. That's mean, Motari," an off-camera Marine is heard telling the Marine who tossed the black and white dog. The off-camera Marine snickered slightly afterward.
Lance Cpl. David Motari, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment at Kaneohe Bay, is "being processed for separation" from the Marine Corps, the Marine Corps said in a news release. He also received unspecified "non-judicial punishment."
The video was viewed tens of thousands of times before YouTube took it down because of a violation of the site's terms of use.
"The actions seen in the Internet video are contrary to the high standards we expect of every Marine and will not be tolerated," Marine Corps Base Hawaii said in a news release. "The vast majority of Marines conduct their duties with honor and compassion that makes American people proud."
The second Marine, Sgt. Crismarvin Banez Encarnacion, also received unspecified "non-judicial" punishment.

O horror da experimentação animal

É exactamente isto que acontece aos milhões de animais que são anualmente usados na cruel, dispendiosa e enganadora indústria da experimentação animal. Uma indústria onde a contagem de vítimas é assustadora: um animal morre a cada 3 segundos num laboratório europeu, a cada 2 segundos num laboratório japonês, e a cada segundo num laboratório norte-americano. Só no Reino Unido, quase 3 milhões de animais são mortos anualmente em laboratórios. Actualmente, cerca de 10.000 primatas são torturados em laboratórios europeus todos os anos.Voltaremos a este assunto mais tarde.... quando eu tiver "mais estômago"
